Summary

12 hours, 13 minutes
Fifteen years ago, summer camper Emma Davis watched sleepily as her three cabin mates snuck out of their cabin in the dead of night。 The last she--and anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips。

Now a rising star in the NYC art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings。。 They catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of the very same Camp Nightingale--and when Francesca implores Emma to return to the camp as a painting counselor, Emma sees an opportunity to find closure and move on。

Yet, it is immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale。 Already haunted by surfacing memories, Emma is suddenly plagued by a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca, and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian apparently left behind about the camp's twisted origins。 And as history begins to repeat itself and three girls go missing again, Emma must face threats from both man and nature in order to uncover all the buried secrets--including what really happened all those years ago。

4。5 stars! I couldn’t stop reading, and the final twist was a total shock。

I really enjoyed this thriller。 I finished this book in one setting。 I couldn't put it down。 I did predict something correctly, which gives me a little confidence since lately, I have been having a hard time doing so。 I really enjoyed this thriller。 I finished this book in one setting。 I couldn't put it down。 I did predict something correctly, which gives me a little confidence since lately, I have been having a hard time doing so。 。。。more

。。。I was not impressed。 After reading Final Girls, I was hoping this book would be a little more thrilling and exciting。 It was not。 The plot was just ehhhh。 And the ending?? Horrible。 It was just out right bland。 Much like Final Girls, the chunk of the book was so slow and boring。 Like we get the back story all ready。 And for the end to come out that way? ARE YOU KIDDING? The lamest ending I could have imagined。 I wanted to throw my book across the room。 2 stars for a good plot, but I feel like 。。。I was not impressed。 After reading Final Girls, I was hoping this book would be a little more thrilling and exciting。 It was not。 The plot was just ehhhh。 And the ending?? That is just ridiculous and a sorry way to make a book more interesting。 。。。more

This is the first and last Riley Sager book I will read。 I was not a fan of his style of writing。 Also the main character was a female & his perspective made women just seem like a cliche。 Without giving any spoilers , this book was all over the place。 I had NO idea where it was going and not in a mysterious edge of my seat way, but a wtf I don’t get it… way。 There was a LOT of information & characters that nothing panned out with the info。 I didn’t see a lot of thoughts and ideas having closure This is the first and last Riley Sager book I will read。 I was not a fan of his style of writing。 Also the main character was a female & his perspective made women just seem like a cliche。 Without giving any spoilers , this book was all over the place。 I had NO idea where it was going and not in a mysterious edge of my seat way, but a wtf I don’t get it… way。 There was a LOT of information & characters that nothing panned out with the info。 I didn’t see a lot of thoughts and ideas having closure。 The twists I couldn’t tell if he was going for a murder mystery or a ghost story 9/10s of the book。 By the end I was glad it was over。 The final twist was really stupid and didn’t fully add up。 。。。more

A good thriller but it felt kind of long at times。 The ending was wild and unexpected。 I still don’t know if I’ve processed / understood everything that just happened at the end。 🤯😕🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh my God。 That twist。。。 and that other twist! I raced through this one and it kept me up late。 I even sneaked a few pages in while I was supposed to be on a Zoom call with a friend。 I do not regret a thing。 I thought I had it figured out halfway through, and I'm delighted to have been so very wrong。 This was my first Riley Sager novel, and it won't be the last。 Intense and well-plotted。 Oh my God。 That twist。。。 and that other twist! 3 stars I love a summer camp setting for mystery/thriller/horror, and this is an entertaining enough read。 That noted, I struggled to get on board with the characters and found myself liking instead of loving this installment in the Sager collection。

Loved the setting - spooky girls camp, perfect summer thriller atmosphere。 The end felt a bit forced… too much going on and a bit random。。。 The very last twist was great, but a little expected and like a prize for getting through the last four chapters。

This is only the second book I've read of Sager's and it definitely won't be my last。 We follow Emma Davis, an artist who is returning to her childhood camp, Camp Nightingale, as a counselor。 As soon as she arrives, her past at the camp comes back to haunt her。 Fifteen years ago, her three bunkmates went missing without a trace, and Emma is hoping to find answers。 Will history repeat itself when she returns? I read the audiobook version which was interesting。 However, this book felt so long!By the time the ending came I was starting to get pretty bored even though that's when the plot was starting to finally speed up。 Although the climax was anticlimactic, the final twist redeemed the book for me。 Riley Sager knows how to catch you off guard with a random twist。 Despite my enjoyment of the ending, the slow pacing of the book hindered my overall review, so I will only be giving this book a 3。5/5 stars。 This experience won't deter me from Sager's other works though。 I'm captivated by his writing style and crazy twists! 。。。more

I was desperately looking for a mystery thriller and this one hit the bag! Magnificent! Eerie atmosphere。 Great pacing and good enough twist at the end。 My favorite part is every time Riley Sager describes the painting, it was haunting。 Cannot wait to read more of his books!

Really this is more like 3。5 stars。 Come on Goodreads- give us the half-step stars! This book is perfectly fine for what it is - but a lot of these psychological thrillers are all starting to feature a lot of the same elements, so if you read very many of them, while they are a diverting (if not quite novel and enchanting) pastime in the moment, they don’t leave much of a lasting impression - just that same old nothing-new-under-the-sun feeling。 There are maybe ten or so really popular authors c Really this is more like 3。5 stars。 Come on Goodreads- give us the half-step stars! 3。5/5, rounded down to 3。 My least favorite of the 3 Riley Sager books I’ve read (final girls, home before dark, and the last time I lied)。•I felt like the whole thing was pretty anticlimactic。 There was a scene where there’s a big reveal to the FMC, Emma, and it was so lame because the reader was already able to deduce that chapters prior to her big revelation and it was like…really? It felt like it was being built up to be this big thing and then it wasn’t。Also, Theo is creepy to me。 His inter 3。5/5, rounded down to 3。 My least favorite of the 3 Riley Sager books I’ve read (final girls, home before dark, and the last time I lied)。•I felt like the whole thing was pretty anticlimactic。 There was a scene where there’s a big reveal to the FMC, Emma, and it was so lame because the reader was already able to deduce that chapters prior to her big revelation and it was like…really? It felt like it was being built up to be this big thing and then it wasn’t。Also, Theo is creepy to me。 His interest in a 13 year old girl really creeped me out and didn’t seem like something a normal 19 year old man would do, especially after just meeting a bratty 13 year old。Granted the book takes place 15 years later and the 6 year age gap isn’t an issue anymore when they’re 28 and 34, but the flash backs were creepy to me。•Also there’s a part in the book where someone uses flower petals as “breadcrumbs” so they don’t get lost in the woods…and I was like, great idea using something that’s extremely light and will blow away in the wind 🙄。I did like the twist at the end and I’m glad he put that in there because it would have been another anticlimactic revelation without it。 That’s probably what brought the book from a 3 to a 3。5 star rating for me。 。。。more

I don't really read thrillers very often, but this book makes me want to venture into the thrillerverse。 It was so eerie and Riley Sager really does a fantastic job of creating this sense of paranoia and mystery。 I felt like I was in Emma's situation。 Every time she felt like she was seeing things, I also thought I was going insane。 The plot twist in these books are so well executed and the ending messed me up。 Thank you to the lady who recommended me this at barnes and noble。 <3 I don't really read thrillers very often, but this book makes me want to venture into the thrillerverse。 It was so eerie and Riley Sager really does a fantastic job of creating this sense of paranoia and mystery。 I felt like I was in Emma's situation。 Every time she felt like she was seeing things, I also thought I was going insane。 The plot twist in these books are so well executed and the ending messed me up。 Thank you to the lady who recommended me this at barnes and noble。 <3 。。。more

Some of the characters’ reactions to the plot / the plot itself were unrealistic at times, but other than that it was a very enjoyable read。

4。5⭐️ I’ve only read three Sager books so far, but the general consensus is the twists are wildly improbable。 I’m not mad at this, I actually really enjoy how unpredictable they are。 But I’ve learned to just enjoy the ride! This one was the same。 It was a little slow in the beginning, but I loved the setting and the set up。 By the time we got to the first twist I was really hoping for a Shutter Island moment。 Honestly the ending sealed the deal for me and made me like it even more。“Boys can brea 4。5⭐️ I’ve only read three Sager books so far, but the general consensus is the twists are wildly improbable。 I’m not mad at this, I actually really enjoy how unpredictable they are。 But I’ve learned to just enjoy the ride!
