3 stars I love a summer camp setting for mystery/thriller/horror， and this is an entertaining enough read。 That noted， I struggled to get on board with the characters and found myself liking instead of loving this installment in the Sager collection。

I was desperately looking for a mystery thriller and this one hit the bag！ Magnificent！ Eerie atmosphere。 Great pacing and good enough twist at the end。 My favorite part is every time Riley Sager describes the painting， it was haunting。 Cannot wait to read more of his books！

3。5/5， rounded down to 3。 My least favorite of the 3 Riley Sager books I’ve read （final girls， home before dark， and the last time I lied）。•I felt like the whole thing was pretty anticlimactic。 There was a scene where there’s a big reveal to the FMC， Emma， and it was so lame because the reader was already able to deduce that chapters prior to her big revelation and it was like…really？ It felt like it was being built up to be this big thing and then it wasn’t。Also， Theo is creepy to me。 His inter 3。5/5， rounded down to 3。 My least favorite of the 3 Riley Sager books I’ve read （final girls， home before dark， and the last time I lied）。•I felt like the whole thing was pretty anticlimactic。 There was a scene where there’s a big reveal to the FMC， Emma， and it was so lame because the reader was already able to deduce that chapters prior to her big revelation and it was like…really？ It felt like it was being built up to be this big thing and then it wasn’t。Also， Theo is creepy to me。 His interest in a 13 year old girl really creeped me out and didn’t seem like something a normal 19 year old man would do， especially after just meeting a bratty 13 year old。Granted the book takes place 15 years later and the 6 year age gap isn’t an issue anymore when they’re 28 and 34， but the flash backs were creepy to me。•Also there’s a part in the book where someone uses flower petals as “breadcrumbs” so they don’t get lost in the woods…and I was like， great idea using something that’s extremely light and will blow away in the wind 🙄。I did like the twist at the end and I’m glad he put that in there because it would have been another anticlimactic revelation without it。 That’s probably what brought the book from a 3 to a 3。5 star rating for me。 。。。more
